Prego Journal: Week 19

How far along: 19 Weeks
Our House!!
How big is baby:  Mango! Neurons are now connected between the brain and muscles and cartilage is turning into bone.  All this combined = increased baby movement
Total weight gain: Total of +4
Maternity clothes: Still utilizing Nancy's clothes.  I'd like to purchase a baby band here soon so I can try wearing some of my old pants/shorts
Sleep: It's been okay.  I get up about one time a night about 1 hour before my alarm goes off.  Other than that I do some tossing and turning; I rarely feel completely comfortable.  I need one of those pregnancy sleeper pillows.  I believe boppy makes a pretty nice one.
Best moment(s) of the week:
Lots of good this week!
1) I picked up our completed wedding album!  It's so lovely!   I also completed all of our parent albums.
2) Dr.'s appointment went well...I got to hear Iggy's heart for the first time!!! I've seen the little one on a screen but this is my first time to hear the little heart.  Most beautiful noise in the whole world! Also, it is confirmed that I am neither a carrier for fragile X nor cystic fibrosis!
3) The previous owners moved out of our house!  Although the process of this happening was a little dramatic, Jason and I got to start moving in!!!
Food cravings: Nothing specific, just hungrier in general
Food aversions: still sweets
Symptoms: General tiredness; hunger; I threw up again this week...what?  I thought that was supposed to be finished...
Movement: I think I've managed to decipher the baby movements!  Iggy had some pretty active days this week!  That was very exciting.  I love sitting still and feeling the little Igster movements.  They're like bubbles popping, but not gas bubbles...literally a little pop in my tummy
Gender: still impatiently waiting...we find out for sure on Oct 10th!!!

What I’m looking forward to:   Lots!  First, Jason's mom comes into town this weekend!  I'm so excited to see her; it has been a terribly long time!  Second, we are doing the big move this weekend. We should officially be living in our new house by Sunday! Speaking of Sunday, Jason notified me he has a surprise for me Sunday afternoon...despite his many pleas to let him tell me what it is (Jason does not like surprises) I managed to convince him to keep it a secret.  All I know is that I'm supposed to wear a dress...and I am so excited!  I love surprises!

What I miss: sushi and coffee...okay I never drank a lot of coffee to begin with but it's pumpkin spice latte time and I LOVE that drink!

Next appt: Oct. 10th
Workout/Fitness: I'm not getting much better here since school started.  I did a few workouts this weekend but nothing super intense.  I did clear it with my doctor to do a 5K in November so I've roped Jason into training for this with me!  Motivation!

Prego Journal: Week 18

How far along: 18 Weeks

Kisses for baby
Sending some love to the husband
How big is baby:  Sweet potato.  I'm going to start writing a little bit about what else is going on with baby according to my phone Apps in this section:  This week Iggy started to yawn (ummm precious). Iggy is increasing in activity with lots of twisting, rolling, and kicking and big enough for me to start feeling them. The nervous system is continuing to develop and myelin is starting to cover the nerves.
Total weight gain: +1 since last week so a total of +5 since learning we are pregnant
Maternity clothes: I would just like to note that I appreciate how they size maternity clothes.  Basically, maternity sizes allow you to think that you aren't actually growing. That's right, according to my maternity pants, I'm still fitting into the same size as I was before pregnancy...even though my old jeans would tell you differently.
Sleep: Okay so you know how I told you it had improved last week?  Well I failed to remember one critical component.  Boots, our dog, wasn't with us last week.  He was still at my mom's who had kept him while we were away at the wedding.  Apparently this played a big role in my sleeping well.  Boots has this horrible (but sometimes adorable) need to sleep right in the middle of Jason and I; negating the whole "switching sides so I can cuddle with my husband" thing.  It's okay because once we move and start using our new bed set, he is no longer allowed on the bed.  Hurray!
Best moment(s) of the week:
Our wedding album has finally been completed for proofing (which I assume means we will be getting a hard copy soon as well)!!!   Here's a link to the proofs.  It was so much fun going through this with Jason and thinking about that day. Later that night we lie in bed talking about the course of our relationship.  I cried a little reminiscing about how hard it was to say goodbye for all those years, how amazing Jason was at comforting me as he could hear my heart breaking over the phone missing him, the joy that surrounded the day he found a job in Dallas and we just swayed back and forth in my living room dancing to the music in our hearts, the intensified feelings of joy we experienced at our wedding and holding each other in that same way swaying on the dance floor, and the joy we feel in anticipation of holding our Iggy and swaying as our baby lies in our arms.
Food cravings: Kroger's cranberry almond trail mix. yum.
Food aversions: sweets

Symptoms: Tummy grumblies (baby movements?!), the hunger of three grown men, a growing belly, sometimes feeling a little nausea BUT this is the first week in a very long time where I did not throw up once; victory!!
Movement: Gosh I wish someone would just tell me if what I'm feeling is Iggy!  Geeeze I wish I didn't already have stomach bubbles on a regular basis. But I do think I felt Iggy at least once for sure while lying down waiting to fall asleep.  I felt a little pop in my lower abdomen a few times, like a little kick perhaps.
Gender: still impatiently waiting
What I’m looking forward to:   well I would say starting to move into our new home at the end of the week...but the past residents have again requested an extension on their lease so it may not start happening until the 28th.  It's so hard to wait!  But we're trying to be nice and understanding with them.
What I miss: shopping.  not that I went shopping every weekend or anything before, but now even looking on pinterest all I can think is "oh that's cute I want to pin it...oh but I'm pregnant so I can't wear that for awhile and it will prob be out of fashion by then..."
Next appt: Well, my doctor's appoint was again pushed back.  So I'll have an appointment (fingers crossed) on September 18th
Workout/Fitness: Well, I was still pretty bad most of the week with this.  I did an occasional quick series of leg lifts or something, but nothing serious.  Then Friday morning I woke up and the weather was Amazing, so I decided to attempt a little jog.  In total I jogged about 1.5 miles, walked about .5 miles, and climbed up and down the stairs of our apartment building for about 10 minutes.  It felt great while doing it, but man I have not used those jogging muscles in a very long time so they are quite sore now.

Prego Journal: Week 17

How far along: 17 Weeks
Baby's first college football weekend!
How big is baby:  Turnip
Total weight gain: +4
Maternity clothes: I actually wore real maternity clothes this week!  I started my internship and because it's at a homeless shelter, jeans are more the norm than slacks.  I only have one pair of nicer jeans left that I can fit into, so I wore some of Nancy's maternity jeans.  They're pretty cute and quite comfortable! They are a little short, but also free so I'm living with the short.

Sleep: It has been okay.  Jason and I switched sides of the bed so that now when I'm on my left side it means I'm facing him.  This helps me sleep because I'm able to cuddle with him and hold on to him to keep me from rolling too much.

Best moment(s) of the week:
1) We went to Nancy's vet clinic on Monday and got to see Iggy on their ultrasound machine! The baby is getting so much more active; punching, kicking, rolling around.  It's fun to see. And it was great to be able to share the moment with my mom, sister, bro in law, sister in law, and husband.  I can't wait for our next ultrasound at the Dr.'s office!
2) We closed on our house this Friday (our 8 monthiversary)!!  We won't get to move in for a few more weeks, but it's fun to know we're homeowners!
Food cravings: none really, although my appetite has grown a bit
Food aversions: Still pretty turned off by sweets
Symptoms: Getting warm easier; tummy grumbles; occasional nausea (I did throw up once this week); I'm ready for bed by about 8:00...which makes my class that lasts until 8:20 interesting.
Movement: Not sure...my mom and Nancy told me the movements early on feel like stomach bubbles.  Well, I have lots of stomach bubbles (even before I was pregnant)...part of me thinks some of these may have been Iggy because lately the bubbles have felt a little different.  Regardless, all my pregnancy apps and books say I should start feeling something within the next couple of weeks!
Gender: Still no doctor confirmation, but Jason and I think we have a good idea.
What I’m looking forward to:   hmm I don't think there's any big excitement this coming week.  I guess just another week of internship.  I'm really enjoying it so far, I love the population I'm working with and feel so blessed to have this opportunity!
What I miss: I'm back to missing running.  There were two days of beautiful weather this week and I would have loved to just go for a run
Next appt: September 14th...it was supposed to be the 10th but I had to move it for my internship schedule
Workout/Fitness: Unfortunately, not a darn thing.  This was my first week of internship and classes.  I've got a pretty full schedule, so I used this week to adjust a little and will hopefully get back into a workout routine next week.

Prego Journal: Week 16

How far along: 16 Weeks
How big is baby:  Avocado

Total weight gain: +2

Maternity clothes: Luckily I went through a period in my life where I bought lots of shirts that tied as an empire waist and then flowed out (much like a maternity shirt).  I've been wearing these a lot.  Also, I discovered a little trick with my shorts and using a hair tie around my button to extend it a bit.  Oh and I received two giant bags and a bin full of maternity clothes from Nancy!  Hurray sisterhood of pregnant women.
Sleep: It improved a little this week.  Only waking up about once a night to actually get up and other than that I'll just wake up briefly to shift positions.
Best moment(s) of the week: There are a couple:
1) We went to a Rangers game with my cousin, Kyle, and a good friend of mine from grade school.  It was a lot of fun to have a night out.
2) The drive to and from San Antonio...okay I was a little tired of driving, but I listened to an old Christopher West CD on the way there and back and it was everything I needed to hear.
3) Kendall's wedding!  K-Blev is now K-Tron!!!  It was such a beautiful wedding and lots of fun!  Jason and I love going to weddings because it's a wonderful reminder of our own vows and how incredibly special marriage is!
4) Jason and I have this thing where we squeeze each other's hands three times as a way of saying "I love you" to one another...at Mass this week, the Eucharist had just been placed in the tabernacle and we were sitting back down.  Jason wrapped his arm around me and placed his other hand on my belly, then he tapped it three times, saying "I love you" to Iggy.  It was the most precious thing!
Food cravings: hmmm I really enjoyed eating Mexican food this weekend!
Food aversions: Sweets are my biggest aversion.
Symptoms: Little tummy aches and occasionally feeling nauseated.  I've been up and down with my energy levels.  My hunger levels are definitely starting to rise.  I didn't eat for over 7 hours on Saturday and it felt a little bit like I might die. On that note, I learned that I get very moody when I'm hungry.
Movement: Nope
Gender: Not 100% positive, but we're thinking about going to Nancy's clinic on Monday to get a sonogram and see if we can see anything!
What I’m looking forward to:  I start internship this week!  I'm very excited for this adventure to begin!
AND we close on our house this Friday!!! AHHHHH!!!
What I miss: hummus and feta cheese (aka not having a million different food restrictions)
Next appt: September 10th
Workout/FitnessI did pretty well this week.  I went to our apartment gym a couple of times and also did the Jackie video a few times.  Trying to keep in some kind of a routine.
